Writing Classes

Online & in Devon

We offer Devon-based and online workshops that focus on enlivening the writing practice, both by drawing inspiration from the biosphere, whilst also getting to know the world more intimately through our writing.

In our classes, the emphasis is on supporting curiosity, joy and authenticity in the writer rather than writing for perfection or to catch a publisher's eye. But we find that writing goals and publishing hopes ultimately benefit from freeing up the writing practice and by creating space from the pressure of inner and outer critics.  We also collaborate with other teachers, creatives and ecologists to explore ways of mingling our writing with other ways of seeing and making.

So whether you are exploring a neglected dream, longing to revitalise a stale relationship to your pen, or simply wanting to play on the page, we work to warm and rewild your way with words.

We welcome writers of all levels of experience and background, from well-seasoned writing professionals who need to invigorate their practice to those who are keen to explore writing as a new art form. If there's something you are interested in that we don't currently offer, please do get in touch as we are always evolving our offerings.

Devon Writing Classes

Every spring and summer we offer face to face classes run in our studio in Devon—an opportunity to breathe the outdoors and the aliveness of a summer meadow into your writing.   Dates for 2025 coming soon! Sign up for our newsletter to find out about our upcoming offerings.

Devon Writing Classes

Every spring and summer we offer face to face classes run in our studio in Devon—an opportunity to breathe the outdoors and the aliveness of a summer meadow into your writing.  This year, each of our classes allows writers to intimately get to know, and to write into, the trees, insects, flowers or birds that you will encounter on our land.  You will have time to find an ecological ‘subject’ you’d like to work with before engaging with various writing exercises to help you open up your relationship to that willow, bee, poppy or wren.

One-to-One Mentoring

Tamzin and Natasha also offer one-to-one mentoring programmes for those wanting to delve deeply into the themes we work with or for support with short or long term writing projects. Mentoring is also an option for those that would like to use writing as a tool for self-inquiry, whether to explore a particular issue or to simply bring space and attention to personal experience. These programmes are tailored according to individual aims or curiosities and designed to fit with personal schedules.

Please get in touch using the contact form on the Contact page and write ‘one-to-one’ in the subject line along with a few details of what you are looking for.

Residencies

Every summer we open our flat above the Micro Press studio to an artist or writer.

The residency lasts one to two weeks, depending on artists’ or writers’ preferences and projects. We offer free accommodation with your own kitchen and bathroom in an annex flat on our land. We would like to invite you to have dinners with us as a family and offer self-catering for breakfast and lunch. There is no requirement to produce anything in particular, but we ask that you consider a way of presenting your work or connecting with the area in some way during your stay so we can give back to our local community. We can help you consider what might feel like a good fit and support you to organise events where possible. For more information please use the contact form on the Contact page and write ‘residency’ in the subject line.
